Training at McKern & Associates

McKern & Associates conducts in-house training through programs devised to ensure that all the staff are best equipped to serve your every need. External resources are also used and streamlined into effective presentations and manuals for our staff to make sure that they are up to date with the latest rules and regulations.

In-house Training

The In-house training has always been an important part of working at McKern and Associates. The sessions are generally run by our intermediate and senior Accountants, and the topics are varied from basic taxation to complex matters. They are pitched at our Graduate and Undergraduate Accountants, and offer opportunities for the more experienced Accountants to cement their understanding through teaching and discussion.

External Training

Each month we have a presentation from Specialist Tax Trainers who travel up from Melbourne. Cyntax provides us with up to date information each month on all the tax legislation and cases, as well as providing Focus Presentations on varied topics so we are better equipped to assist our clients. We also regularly attend various seminars run by different bodies within the industry to ensure we do stay up to date with all the latest changes and strategies.

We believe McKern & Associates is a firm based on opportunity. Damien is not biased when it comes to CA vs CPA or even University Graduate vs Under Graduate. If a potential staff member possesses the right qualities to fit in the team, regardless of qualification, then that person is hired. McKern & Associates is a Chartered firm, as Damien is a Chartered Accountant. However, all staff are encouraged to follow the career path that they wish to. We also have many staff who still attend University 2-4 days a week. Generous study leave and rewards are offered to these staff members who are still attending University to encourage these members to continue at the firm, long after they are degree qualified.Through this mechanism Damien has been able to build an extremely loyal and reliable team.
